Rawtenstall v Todmorden
Saturday saw us entertain Worsley cup finalists Tod.
On a day that had been forcast with rain coming in later,
we won the toss and decided to field.Sealy and Paynie
opened the bowling, the Prince was not his usual miserly
self gifting the opposition 5 wides with the first ball.Paynie
got
us back on track having Ben Sutcliffe stumped for 5.Tod although
riding their luck, added 52 for the second wicket, when Simon Newbitt
was bowled for 43(having been dropped two balls earlier).Tom Marsh
endured a very unhappy time at the crease before hitting a simple
catch
to Jay-Lo at mid on,for 6.Gulam Bodi was next to go lbw for32(101
for 4).
Two runs later Young Harrison was smartly taken by Big Vin for2
off Nathan.
Brierley,Sutcliffe and Clayton all departed with the score on
110.The Tod captain
who had been struck down with migraine, added to his sides headache
when he departed
for 1.At 112 for 9 ,Mo Bux launched a counter attack smashing
his way to 41(including 6,
sixes). He and Dave Brown putting on 46 for the final wicket,Paynie
securing the bowling
points by bowling Bux.158 all out could have been a tricky target
to reach.
Shouldn't really have worried Chris and Paynie made light work
of the Tod attack.
The pair adding 86 for the first wicket Paynie bowled by the off
spinner Sutcliffe for 27.
Chris was next to depart in the same way ,after smashing 62.There
was no respite for
the beleaguered Tod attack as Danny B helped himself to 18,in
quick time(125 for 3).
Sealy and Bomber both fell caught and bowled to Bodi for 0 and
4.Nathan and Kersh saw us
over the line,Nathan finishing 38 not out and Kersh 4 not out.It
only took us 25 overs to complete the task
a good job really as the expected rain did come some 40 minutes
after completion.
'til next time see you laytur Kes.
