Rawtenstall v Nelson
Sunny Sunday saw the new league leaders(us)take on
third placed Nelson.
We were prepared for a backlash. After winning the toss Nelson
decided to bat.
They openers gave the impression they were under instructions
not to play any
shots, could the pounding we gave them the day before have anything
to do with that?
With the score on 9 Danny Kegg was yet another victim of the arm
ball lbw for 3.
Craig McMillan entered the fray launching Paynie for 2 sixes in
successive balls but was
trapped lbw for the second time in two days, departing for 13 with
22 on the board.Sean Lemon
was bowled for 24 and Dave Crotty lbw for 14,this made it 62
for 4,and Nelson were once
again all at sea.Hussain offered a simple catch to Jay-Lo at extra
cover,and they were in disarray
at 88 for 5.This became 102 for 6 as Neil Thompson offered a soft
catch to Paynie at extra
cover off Nathan for 25.Mick Bradley and Tom Lord added 20 ,before
the latter tried to take on
Nathan at cover and was easily run out for 4.His captain soon
followed bowled by Nathan for 20.
Probably the worst batter in the league was out next caught behind
off Paynie for 6.But the last
pair showed some bottle and took the score onto 165 before Kurrum
Nazir fell to Nathan for 22.
165 all out was never going to be enough and so it proved.
Nathan and Chris opened up and were into their stride from ball
one. They raced to 59 when Chris
mis-timed one and was caught for 39.If we thought Chris had given
it a biff, all hell was about to break
loose, first Nathan opened up narrowly missing a child on the
terracing with a thunderous pull for 6.Then
Paynie got in on the act, driving, cutting and pulling his way to
50 in only 33 balls.Nathan had departed with
the score on139, for a very good 44 All over barr the shouting,Paynie
finishing with an undefeated 75,
off 39 balls.Nelson well and tuly crushed, losing by 8 wickets
and with 27 overs to spare.
A great weekend for the Rocky boys and no more than we deserved.A
fielding display on both days par
excellence.Accrington were well beaten by Burnley so we are now
top of the pile.Another tricky game
next week Bacup away.'till next time see you laytur Kes.
