Rawtenstall C.C. v Church C.C. Saturday 10th May 08

Saturday saw us entertain Church our first replay of the
season.The visitors won the toss and stuck us in.What a mistake!
Paynie and Chris rattling up 82 in no time,when Chris departed for
36,the momentum was not lost and Paynie and the Pro added another 25.
Paynie departed for 47,but still the runs flowed,Danny B joining Nathan at
the buffet table and filling his boots.Nathan perished after charging the bowler
was blinded by his own perspiration and bowled for 31.Danny played some exquisite
drives but too perished in the chase for runs.Big Vin and Will both got into the teens
(13and 19).Then the Goon Squad got us upto 217,with Bomber Riley caught behind
off the last ball of the innings for 9.
Church were never in the hunt Hussain lbw second ball for nought.Alex Holt lbw to
Paynie for 4.Then a clatter of wickets followed Sykes for 0 Greenwood 0,and the
Church pro Bredenkamp for 13,20 for 5and all over as a contest.40 overs followed
in which runs were aquired as if costing £10 each Nathan picked up a couple and it was left to the
Skipper to wrap up maximum points in two successive balls ,ten and jack on their respected bikes for
6 and 0.One of their lads did get to 50 but to no avail they finished 85 short.
