Rawtenstall v Burnley
After the demoralising defeat to E Lancs it was essential
the boys
lifted their game to dispatch the resurgent Burnley side.
The visitors won the toss and stuck us in,on a drying wicket.
They must have been looking to do to us what they did to Rammy
the previous day and skittle us out for a low score.
Paynie and Chris opened up.A couple of trade mark drives from
Cooky
saw the score board rattling over, but as with the previous day
Chris
departed when looking threatening for 12,and the score on 20.The
batting hero
from the previous day Danny B flattered to decieve, playing a couple
of nice shots
before being caught behind for 9.(47 for 2)Paynie looked as solid
as ever ,he and
Nathan adding 49 for the third wicket, before the skipper got one
that popped
and was caught at short mid on for a solid 44.Twelve runs later
Nathan followed after
attempting to mow Young Tripathi through the leg side ,missed
and was bowled for 32.
Will C-M joined Prince Peter at the wicket, and made an expensive
fines weekend even more
so, as the second time in two innings he was lbw for 0.At 110
for 5 things were looking a little grim.
Shouldn't have worried the Prince and Bomber Riley mounted a counter
attack.Both batsmen playing
shots all around the wicket,a sumptous extra cover drive from
the Bomber being easily the shot
of the day. These two added 57 in good time before Bomber was bowled
for 23.The Prince brought
up his 50 with a six over square leg,and the innings finished
on 187 for 6.The Prince finishing on 57 not out
from 78 balls including,one 6 and three 4s.
So on a drying wicket we always thought it would be a big ask
for this Burnley side.Paynie made inroads
immeadiately bowling Dan Pickup for 0.My rabbit Ben Law managed
15 before mis-timing a sweep,
and was easily caught at slip by the skipper. With the score on
37 a flurry of wickets followed,the Burnley
pro Jeeva Kalatunga mis-timed a drive and was caught at point
by Bomber.Michael Kelly was undone
by a straight one first ball, and Q Ali survived the hat trick.Next
over Nathan had M Jamal caught at
mid on for 13,and Ali caught by Paynie at slip the next ball,Nathan
Whitehead survived the hat trick ball.
It was now 37 for 6 and no reprieve,Chris Burton mowed one into
the leg side and was smartly taken
by D B,for2.(41 for 7).Young Whitehead and Steve Brunt added 13
before ,Whitehead was caught behind
attempting the sweep for 11.Then Nathan brilliantly ran Brunt
out with no addition to the score(54 for 9).
Young Tripathi and James Capstick added 31 for the last wicket
but a direct hit from Chris saw Capstick
run out for an entertaining 20.
Back to winning ways and about time too.In the bar for 6 O'clock
what else could one want, free beer all night
and it almost was over £100 of collection money disappeared
in the first hour and a half.It was rumoured that
the Prince was trying to buy votes for this weeks M.O.M. the promise
of free beer off the slate, but I couldn't
possibly comment!
'til next week see you laytur Kes.
