DEANO took me to one side to give me a rollicking after last week's blog,
"What you doing calling my sister Bet Lynch?"
"Well Deano she was a barmaid in Corrie a few years back, it was only a bit of fun pal"
"Yes that's all very well Bob but with Riles up and down thinking he's Mike Baldwin, you can't be to sure can you?"
"Point taken , please don't tell your dad will you Dean"
"Oh don't worry about him ,he's busy with the brown envelopes, sorry I mean tenders"
Another rollicking came from big Vin, he wasn't to happy that I didn't mention his brilliant piece of stumping that got rid Chitnis when he'd scored 140 against us, so I apologise Vinny and I will tell everyone that you were stood up to Payney and when the Pro got one that popped of a length you produced a take that Jack Russell would have been proud of and the bails were off faster than Sealy going to the MED.
Anyway Saturday saw us lose to East Lancs for the third time this season, so with the old men of Blackburn turning us over on Sunday it was the young lads of Burnley who challenged us , the game was over for six and thankfully we were back to winning ways, once again Kes and Riles had their fingers on the pulse, but it was the Prince who stole the show with a classy half century. Whilst Burnley didn't cause us much trouble they do look like a team with a bright future and they stayed for a drink even better. Unfortunately the in form Riley is off to Fingerholey on holiday this weekend so I have a suggestion for the selection committee surely the chap Mark Cavendish who won four stages of the Tour de France then retired could be available , especially now we appear to be keen on cyclists.
I have three messages of congratulations to pass on-
1. To former player Lance Corporal John Dawson on passing out, I must admit it's the first time I've reported on anyone passing out and I bet everyone thought I was favourite to be the first.
2. To current player Vinny Hanson on overtaking Peter Barnes to become the second most successful keeper for Rawtenstall. well done pal..
3.To avid supporter Bob Barnes for finally getting off the bench and going to the bar to Lubricate himself.
Finally for this week I must tell you that Paddy will not be doing the scorebox for the next month he's gone to America and Canada on holiday. He tried to get some holiday pay from Bob Johnson but to no avail.
"Bob I'm off for a month any chance of holiday pay?"
"not really Paddy"
"Well I've been doing it for three years now Bob"
"Yes I know you have and your doing great and you've certainly improved"
"Improved I'll say I have I can judge a run better than John Hayman"
